Oxford shoes are without a doubt the most notable trend in New York street fashion. A modern spin on a collegiate classic, they were previously spotted exclusively on the toesies of businessmen and jazz musicians (yawn). Recently, these kicks received a reputation makeover after being adopted by the nouveau cool group (translation: hipsters). They skyrocketed up the social stratosphere, and quickly attained the prestige of a must-have item. Suitable for both men and women, oxfords look their best when dressed down. Pair with a vintage frock, high-waisted trousers or a distressed vest and voila! You're instantly en vogue. Here's a few of my favorites on the market. Make sure you get 'em before they're gone...or before they're mass produced by Forever 21 and lose all cool factor. ![]() Hartwick unisex skimmer shoe, $97, at americanapparel.com ![]() Urban Outfitters Vida Cutout oxford, $78, at urbanoutfitters.com ![]() Kaight Melissa Joy Flocado, $99, at kaightshop.com ![]() Vision lace up canvas shoe, $50, at topshop.com ![]() Rachel Comey Derringer oxford, $163, at openingceremony.com |
