There's a reason why they call it "The Silver Screen". Since the birth of motion pictures, movies have brought entertainment and style inspiration to the masses. Below you'll find a list of the films that started style revolutions and continue to inspire designers, artists, and stylistas worldwide. So pop some popcorn and get to viewing some serious style.
#5. Annie Hall
In this Woody Allen classic, Diane Keaton makes tomboy style cool for the ladies. Collared shirts, bow ties, and lace up oxfords are all fair game.
#4. Some Like It Hot
Two words: Marylin Monroe
#3. Clueless
Remember platform flip flops? Belly shirts? Knee socks? Alicia Silverstone embodied '90s bubblegum style, causing teenagers everywhere to channel their inner valley girl.
#2. Marie Antoinette
Though it may be impractical to wear a hoop skirt and a bird cage hat on a day to day basis, this Sofia Coppola film is undoubtedly tres chic. Channel the tragic Queen with feminine frills and pastel hues.
#1. Breakfast at Tiffany's
Who can forget that LBD? A Givenchy-clad Audrey Hepburn captivated audiences and continues to be a style inspiration. There's a reason why Michael Kors admitted to making company employees watch every Audrey film.

Lights. Camera. Fashion.
On the night of November 19th, the University of Delaware's most fashionable co-eds lined up early to get seats at the most stylish event of the year. Sponsored in part by Blackberry, Rittenhouse Station, and HP/Intel, it was sure to be a night to remember.
This year's Fall Fashion Event delivered true style, and this UDresser was incredibly impressed. For womenswear, I noticed overlying trends of tribal prints, ladylike silhouettes, sparkles, and fur. For men, casual-chic prevailed, with elegant add-ins such as velvet and silk.
The overall theme of the runway show and the Fall 2011 issue of UDress magazine transported me back to the bygone era of the 1960's, when both men and women would always dress their best. A muted palette coupled with retro hair and makeup offered true style inspiration for a typically casual college campus.
Congratulations to everyone who helped to put together such an amazing night of fashion. I look forward to attending next year's event as a UDress alum, and I can't wait to see the magazine and the event grow and develop into something even more fabulously fashionable.

Nothing could be more French than a sweet and decadent macaroon. The pastel colors and light texture are enough to make this Francophile's mouth water.
So imagine my excitement when I discovered that Laduree, the most well-known and well-loved purveyor of macaroons, was planning to open a shop in New York City.
Laduree first opened up shop in 1862 in Paris. Today, the well-heeled set are known to stock up when on vaction in the city of light, sometime buying multiple boxes of the sweets.
So if you're craving something both sweet and stylish, head over to 864 Madison Avenue. Your taste buds will thank you.

Hey UDressers and visitors! I'm floored to announce that we hit a new record site visits on Sunday (June 28, 2009) with 80 people viewing our site IN ONE DAY! Thank you to everyone who visits the site, and especially to the editors who are constantly contributing content to keep the website fresh. It is really amazing to see something I started from scratch blossom to what it has become.
Today marks EXACTLY the half-year mark since this website was launched, and since then the website has been visited 2,400 times by 1,400 different people from 48 different countries of the world (2,200 from the USA). We truely have a large widespread audience, but a 50% return rate shows me that many readers keep coming back for more. With 23 active registered users (and counting) this further confirms that we are truely beginning to build a devoted fanbase.
Despite all this we still have a long way to go to finish everything we want to do on the site, but it is really encouraging to see such a great interest in the fruits of our hard work. I can't wait to continue to make the website even better and hopefully (with your help) blow these records away very soon!
THANK YOU ALL! --Gifford Nowland Website Director |
