Over the last few months, watches have been making a big statement as a trendy accessory that not only looks fabulous, but has a practical element as well! Big name designers like Michael Kors have been making quite a profit off their dazzling designs. However, if you are not looking to make a big investment but you are a fan of knowing at all times, well, what the time really is - check out these glam watches bound to make an impression.

1.     Freestyle Shark Bling Watch - Since I was born and raised in a beach town, this type of watch is extremely popular where I'm from since they are not only adorable, but waterproof! Freestyle watches truly incorporate function with fashion, as most of their watches feature the time, an alarm setting, the date, a stopwatch and much more!

2.     Fossil White Watch - White watches are extremely classy and can be the perfect addition to any outfit, turning simple into modern and chic.

3.     Golden Toned Watch - Probably my favorite shade of all (I'm a big fan of anything sparkly!), a gold watch exudes all things luxurious and truly makes checking the time enjoyable.

With so many styles, brands, and designs to choose from, it should be simple sporting a fabulous watch that will keep you on track. Always remember - fashion is what you make it to be, and dress to be you!

As the holiday season truly gets underway, certain trends begin to pop up in stores across the nation that are perfect for family reunions, work parties, or even a night out on the town.  Here are some of my favorite dress styles incorporating some of the hottest holiday trends:

1. Sparkles - There's nothing more festive than wearing something as bling-y as the lights on a Christmas tree!  Sequins are quite a dominant trend during the holiday season, as they add a pop of glamour and glitz to the gloomy winter months.
alt
2. Rockin' Red - This bold color is perfect for any holiday celebration.  Long sleeved dresses are certainly stylish and practical during the cold weather and can make a red dress conservative enough for a family holiday dinner.alt
3.     Classic Black - No matter what the occasion, you can never go wrong with a little black dress. End of story.
alt
4.     Lovely Lace -Lace is classic enough to add a glamorous, vintage touch to any outfit but is also fresh and fabulous, keeping looks current and stylish!  Not just for your grandmother anymore, lace is perfect for any holiday occasion and fashion brands and designers are certainly contributing to the popularity of this elegant look.
alt

Get into the spirit of things by going for the glitz, hot red, the always classic black, or chic lace, all great looks certain to make Santa want to stop by.  Consider donning one of these hot holiday dress trends and you'll be sure to make a statement this season!

Dear Caroline,

What do you suggest for a stylish fix when your hair doesn't get washed for class?

I think every girl on campus has had a late-and-no-time-to-do-my-hair morning. While headbands are great sometimes your tresses need a little more coverage. If the weather is not frigid enough for a slouchy beanie and if you feel too showy in a panama or bison hat, I have your solution. When I noticed many of my favorite blogs featuring baseball caps, chic ones of course, I was thrilled. I love the juxtaposition of a dramatic black or white cap with an ultra-edgy ensemble. It is a great way to feel comfortable with a familiar accessory yet allows you to take more risks with the rest of your look.

Tommy Hilfiger Speaks to Fashion Students PDF Print E-mail

Tommy Hilfiger made a special trip to Philadelphia University on Tuesday, October 11 for a special Q + A with the students after winning the University's Spirit of Design Award.

Hilfiger spoke about the beginnings of the brand that started when he was in high school when he made jeans for friends. Hilfiger told students about his triumphs and the hardships he endured as a struggling designer. He went bankrupt at 23 and had to work back up to the top of the fashion ladder.

One student asked Hilfiger what he thought for the future of fashion students coming out of college. He mentioned that he never went to college himself, and that graduating is a first step in and of itself. Hilfiger also reminded students that fashion is a business that requires connections, yet an education is of utmost importance.

As for Hilfiger's advice for people who are new to the world of fashion design, he suggests staying a part of the actual design plan. Hilfiger believes designers should stay active in choosing everything, down to the exact button that goes on a shirt, and says that's what he misses most about the fashion process.

Hilfiger has hope for all fashion students and reminded aspiring fashion mavens to never give up and to work hard when trying to achieve their dream.

Dear Caroline,

How do I wear white in the fall and winter months?

alt

I am all for wearing white after Labor Day (rules don't exist)! The one fashion hurdle I foresee is white denim. The best way to rock crisp white denim in the colder months is by incorporating chestnut or mahogany shaded accessories into the outfit. Also, adding a chunky Irish wool sweater or slouchy burgundy pullover will add instant autumn envy to any white denim look. The key point to focus on is texture and weight. For the bone-chilling months of the year, winter white is obviously a popular hue for holiday dresses and structured wool coats. A new take on an old classic would be creating a full-on, monochromatic winter white look. By keeping color strictly to the accessories (emerald costume earrings or a navy velvet clutch), the look is illuminating and bright but still chilly chic.

2.    Giorgia Tordini sweater-turned-dress look

3.    DIY garden rake to display precious pearls

"Fall" Into the New You! PDF Print E-mail

The sun sets into a warm, amber sky as the air swirls in brisk bursts. Students hustle to get to the shelter of their dorms as leaves begin to embark on their dark colored descent. Greens become browns, reds, and oranges, and all of the bright life seems to become dead. But - just because the season is growing colorless and bleak, that doesn't mean your style has to die too! As Delaware weather leaves summer for good and transitions into autumn, take advantage of the change and make some renditions in your own wardrobe.

Everyone has those few staple items in their wardrobe that seem to reappear every fall. Sweaters, boots, jeans, scarves, and semi-lightweight jackets come to mind when one thinks of fall clothing. But, what if this year you changed it up and really put your own, unique twist on your wardrobe? Add pops of color into the seemingly dull shades that tend to go with the fall months. Or, add a little  bit of sequins and shine into your clothing and truly make a statement of life and vibrancy.

Fall, although a time of dwindling down, is a time of reinvention. The start of school always marks the beginning of a new wardrobe and a new you, as students across the nation dress to impress for their first day of class.

College is no exception. Whether you're a freshman or upperclassmen, the start of a new school year always entails putting your best foot forward with a fresh wardrobe and a clean slate for excellence. So this fall, let your true personality shine through and really find clothing that makes you feel confident. Whether that means rocking your favorite items you've owned for a while, or going out and purchasing some fab new additions, let this fall be your season to make a statement. Always remember - fashion is what you make it to be, and dress to be you!

Dear Caroline,

How can I incorporate python into my fall wardrobe?

Honestly, when snake skin is mentioned I picture a tacky tube top à la Scary Spice. However, python is popular for fall and I've taken a liking to it. It is just as versatile as a leopard print but muted enough to act as a neutral.

alt

If you want to incorporate this trend and make a statement, you may have to spend a pretty penny on a jacket or pant. The quality and look of the skin is important.

If you can't afford a luxury python item, shoot for accessories only so you will avoid the bite of looking cheap.

Over the summer, uber-awesome fashion site, Refinery29 did a slideshow of the best wrists in New York City.  I'm all about a wrist-full of bracelets but I often find myself at a loss of what bangles to pick up.  While scanning through the images I noticed that more than a few of these best-dressed wrists were sporting Giles and Brother nail bangles.  So I tracked down the simple but tough bracelet and even had my initials engraved in it to make it extra personal.  When paired with my otherwise girly wardrobe this rough bracelet has added edge to all of my outfits.

TV Fashion: Get The Look!

My DVR is jam packed with way too many television shows, all saved up for rainy days and lazy Sundays. While I do care somewhat about the plot line or the general performance quality of these shows, it's really the fashion that keeps me coming back for more. And I'm sure (though you may not want to admit it!), that you all look forward to the same thing as well. What wacky ensemble is Aria sporting? Does Serena really look darn good in everything? Where can I find that fabulous pair of shoes Naomi has on? To keep your style small-screen ready, here is a breakdown of how to get your paws on some killer style duds, inspired by these silver screen stars.
