I am sure most other UDressers can relate to the secret vice of magazine hoarding. There is just something about all of the glossy pages and crucial information that makes collecting years (decades!) of magazines inevitable. While I store novels and literature on the hutches on my desk, I have a special three-shelf bookcase reserved for my DVDs and magazines. I was currently storing 4 years of Vogue across one shelf when I realized I couldn’t slip in the January 2011 issue and something had to be done. I decided to clear out all the pre-2010 issues and left the shelf nearly empty to accommodate future years’ worth of subscriptions. This is where many spring cleaners fall into a rut. Rather than trying to reorganize magazines to create more space (which I have been guilty of in the past!), you MUST remove and store to see empty shelvage.

I looked online for the proper way to store magazines, http://www.ehow.com/how_6659392_store-old-magazines.html, and found this process a bit too tedious. Instead, I invested in a large airtight, watertight storage tote that I could simply stack my magazines inside of before hauling it off to the basement.
