Ok, so the summer weather has been…interesting to say the least in Newark, DE so far. We have had two monsoon-like storms, hail the size of golf balls, blinding lightening, and then some absolutely gorgeous sunny days perfect for poolside tanning. All this craziness in humidity and temperature has made my daily makeup routine more and more difficult.
Some problems I have been having are smudging and melting eyeliner, foundation cakey-ness, and flat oily hair. I know you’re not supposed to wash your hair everyday, but when I’m outside in 98 degree weather I simply refuse go to bed with grease galore on my head. Thanks to reading up on some resolutions to these issues, I’ve found three products that have saved my summer. 1. Smudging EyelinerEver look in the bathroom mirror after spending a few hours outside at a BBQ or at the beach and it looks like you haven’t slept in weeks? Welcome to my life. I have tried to not wear eyeliner, but it’s like my drug and I’m not ready to go to rehab to stop using it. So, I found that putting some Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion on both upper and lower lids really hold not only eyeshadow, but eyeliner in place throughout the day. Just make sure to not glob it on because this little bottle goes fast!
I hate wearing foundation in the summer. But sometimes I put on a little to cover up a blemish…then some more to blend it…then more to make my complexion even…you get my point. So how can you get flawless summer skin with minimal coverage? Try Bare Escentuals’ bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation. Its loose powder is delicate and light, but gives you even skin and sun protection all in one. Image from sephora.com3. Greasy Hair Straight hair seems to be the style of preference for most of us, but I’m getting tired of blow drying and straightening with hot hair tools when I’m already spending time in the summer heat. So, I wanted to create a “beachy” look with effortless waves. After washing my hair I use aquage’s sea salt texturizing spray that builds volume and makes my hair comparable to the sexy summer waves of any VS bikini model. Image from mp.hairboutique.com
